This year, for the sake of fun and variety, alongside the usual aJazzNoise top ten list, I asked a few compatriots whose taste and artistic endeavours I trust and love to suggest their own ‘best of’ lists for 2016.

Ray ‘Faust’ is an old friend and fellow enthusiast whose tastes run broad and deep and who is probably responsible for introducing me to more weird and wonderful music than anyone else (including me). Ray is an artist, photographer, and occasional noisemaker with his project The SLC Foundation (you better ask him what the acronym stands for).

In no particular order, this is Ray’s top ten for 2016…
