This year, for the sake of fun and variety, alongside the usual aJazzNoise top ten list, I asked a few compatriots whose taste and artistic endeavours I trust and love to suggest their own ‘best of’ lists for 2016.
Vasco Trilla (the Thriller?!) is a drummer. Which is like saying Borges wrote the odd story, or Picasso daubed the occasional canvas. The percussive master of the unexpected, “clockwork alchemist” is the best description I’ve come up with so far. But what kind of sounds feed his ears? Well, this is Vasco’s top ten for 2016…
